We were pleased to receive the following note this week from Lucas Koskinen, a senior at Maynard High School and member of the National Honor Society, who participated in the Home for Little Wanderers “Keep Kids Warm Coat Drive” as part of his Senior Project. Thank you for including Town Hall in this vital project, Lucas, and best of luck as you move forward in your final months at Maynard High School!
“Dear Friends, Family, and Community Members,
I would like to thank Maynard High School, Fowler Middle School, Maynard Town Hall, Centre Pediatrics of Brookline, and St. John Lutheran Church in Sudbury for supporting my National Honor Society project by allowing me to place clothing donation bins in their locations for the month of November. A special thanks to all the people who filled those bins with winter coats, hoodies, hats, and mittens for the Home for Little Wanderers. The support from the community was overwhelming and I can’t express how grateful I am for receiving such a large number of donations in just one month. The people working at the Home were shocked by the amount of clothing I collected during this drive and quite appreciative!
I am proud to say, I recently delivered 87 new coats, jackets, and sweatshirts, and 53 assorted new hats, gloves, and mittens. An additional 40 pieces of gently used warm weather clothing donated to my bins was also delivered. All new clothing items collected will be distributed to Massachusetts children in need during the month of December, so they will not have to endure the harsh winters without warm clothing. The used items will be sold in The Thrift Shop of Boston. All proceeds from the thrift shop help fund programs at the Home for Little Wanderers.”
