Due to the upcoming winter storm,
all non-essential Municipal Buildings including the Town Hall, the Library and the Council on Aging will be closed on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
The COA Van and Commuter Shuttle will also not be in service tomorrow.
Trash and recycling collection has been postponed. Collection will resume on Friday on a two-day delayed schedule for the remainder of the week, allowing for the New Year’s holiday AND the storm day. The schedule is now as follows:
- Wednesday collection will take place on Friday,
- Thursday collection will take place Saturday, and
- Friday collection will take place on Sunday.
After the storm, avoid parking in the street. Stay off roads to allow plowing operations to proceed smoothly. Help dig out fire hydrants and storm drains in your neighborhood. Be aware of children playing in the streets, particularly climbing on or running out from behind large snowdrifts. Parents should remind their children to be aware of plowing operations and traffic. Clear exhaust vents from Direct Vent Gas Furnace Systems to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Use care around any downed power lines. Assume a down wire is a live wire. As always, be sure to check in frequently on neighbors, especially the elderly. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to keep up with the intensifying storm to make the streets and sidewalks safe for all.
