“MAGIC” is the acronym for the “Minuteman Advisory Group on Interlocal Coordination: a group of 13 communities to the north west of Boston working collaboratively on issues of regional concern since 1984. Maynard has been a long time member of MAGIC and had been looking forward to highlighting the exciting activity and changes underway at the Mill and Main campus to our colleagues.
MAGIC coordinator Heidi Stucker, who arranged the two-plus hour tour, introduced Maynard Board of Selectmen Chair Chris DiSilva and Town Administrator Kevin Sweet to the tour group of 23 MAGIC members. Chair DiSilva and Administrator Sweet, discussed the mill’s historical economic importance to the Town and the thrill of seeing it reemerge both as part of the downtown and as a regional employment center. Mill and Main Director of Operations Richard Casner and Senior Property Manager Paul Sullivan, led the tour throughout the 1.1 million square-foot campus which included a stop at the top of the famous clock tower itself!
Maynard’s commitment to regional cooperation is laying the foundation for a sustainable future for Maynard: one that recognizes the need to balance the Town’s individual identity with the need to work collaboratively with our neighbors. Many thanks to Richard, Paul, Heidi and Town Planner Bill Nemser for making this happen and showcasing Maynard!
